National park Lovćen

A special experience for every visitor and lovers of untouched nature gives a visit to the National Park Lovcen. This national park was established in 1952 and includes the Lovcen Mountain and near the surroundings. The central place of the park is the mausoleum of Petar Petrovic Njegos, a famous ruler, poet and philosopher.


Mausoleum is the highest in the world and is located at an altitude of 1600 meters. There is a road for cars to the bottom, and the last part is overflowing. The mausoleum is reached by climbing the steps of 461 steps. Nevertheless, the panoramic view from the top takes away breath because almost all of Montenegro is seen.


Prices

To enter the mausoleum, a special ticket costs 3 €, and for children € 2.5. The ticket for the park is 3 €, while for children up to 7 years of age it is free.


Visitors to the park have at their disposal an information center where they can get a detailed map or guide.


The National Park is located in the southwest of Montenegro, and it can be reached from Kotor or from Podgorica via Cetinja only 13 kilometers away. Buses do not directly travel to the national park, but transportation from Cetinje must be organized. From Cetinje to mausoleum and back for taxi transportation, you pay 20 €. Also, you can rent a car in Respecta car agency.


There are two hotels in the national park, Monte Rosa and Ivan's, both categorized with four stars. There are also several restaurants, one of which is just below the mausoleum. You can also camp inside a national park, and a fee of € 10 is paid for it. You can rent a bicycle at a price of € 20 per hour.
